Good morning and happy Monday! How long does it seem like since we’ve had any real substantive housing news? Let’s see if we can put a stop to that this week beginning today with the builders and the NAHB Housing market Index. First things first, today at 9:00 central the National Assn. of Home Builders gives us a look under their hood for the month of Sept. A number over 50 represents that more conditions are considered good than poor. We’re coming off a 75 last month and the street was looking for a 74 today. We got a 76, a slight improvement that we’re happy to see. Our 2nd story explains the difference between a Home Equity Loan and a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit). In a nutshell, a Home Equity Loan is a 2nd mortgage fixed loan that allows you to borrow all the available equity in your home in one fell swoop. A HELOC is like borrowing on a credit card, where you can take what you need up to a limit and they’re usually a variable rate. Your home is the collateral for both.
Bonds today are up, with the 10yr T-Notes +10/32 to yield 1.32%. In MBS land FNMA 30yr 2.50% are +2/32 at $103-22 to yield 1.52 which equates to +84 to the 4.1yr treasury curve. Let us know if we can help with MBS or loans and have a great day!
