Good morning and happy hump day! Today we had a duet of scheduled housing news, starting with Mortgage Applications for the week ending Sept. 17th at 6:00 a.m. central and Existing Home Sales for Aug. due out at 9:00 central. Last week on Mortgage Applications we had our 1st up-number in a while at +.3%. Today’s number came in hot at +4.9%! Existing Home Sales today were expected at -1.7% after +2.0% last month, and instead came in worse at -2.00%. Also this week, Morgan Stanley started with taper talk, as their global fixed income portfolio manager Jim Caron joined the exchange and MS was fishing for sound bites.
Bonds today are flat as farmland in Kansas. The 10yr T-Notes are +1/32 to yield 1.131%. In MBS FNMA 30yr 2.50% are +2/32 to $103-24 which yields 1.50% and spreads +83 to the 4.1yr treasury curve.
